Prevent BJP misusing religion: Popular Front appeals Supreme Court and Election Commission

The Central Secretariat meeting of Popular Front of India has in a statement said that the comments and remarks coming from the Prime Minister and Union ministers on Ayodhya issue are not prompted by any sincere commitment to the nation and its constitution; rather, they are politically motivated attempts to pressurize and unduly influence on judicial decisions.
Union Minister Ravishankar Prasad recently expressed his unhappiness over the Supreme Court delay in the case. He said that the case has been pending for over seven decades. At the same time he also expects a judgment in favour of Ram Temple. That obviously is not reflective of his concern for delayed justice, rather a political gimmick which is not different from the provocative and hateful utterances made by other Sangh Parivar leaders on various occasions, challenging the supreme status of the apex court.
Of course delayed justice is the concern of all the citizens especially the victims of Babri Masjid demolition. From the installation of the idol inside Babri Masjid in 1949, to its opening for idol worship in 1986, to its demolition in 1992 and subsequent erection of the makeshift temple on its site, Muslim community has been at the receiving end of the delayed justice. It is great to know that the Law Minister has faith in judiciary and that he is concerned about the delay. But he owes an explanation to the nation why the leaders of his party and Sangh Parivar outfits never expressed their faith in judiciary when they demolished the Masjid. And they never had this concern for the delayed justice while the case remained pending from 1949 to 1992. Several leaders of BJP and allied outfits continue to demand immediate construction of Ram Temple irrespective of the fact that Supreme Court order is still pending. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has recently threatened that if the Supreme Court is unable to pronounce a favourable order, they themselves can build Ram Mandir within 24 hours.
Babri Masjid – Ram Mandir issue now before the Supreme Court is basically a title suite which is to be decided on the basis of historical facts and official records, and not based the sentiments or beliefs of either religious group. Even the fact that a make shift temple is allowed on the same site after the criminal act of Masjid demolition cannot be a point of consideration. The difference in situations before and after the Masjid demolition also is not relevant in a land ownership case hearing.
What we see now is a government, failed in all aspects, with nothing to offer to people in terms of development, trying to capitalize sentimental issues to gain majority votes in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. BJP is cheating and exploiting the Hindu majority by making Ram temple construction just an election tool. The Central Secretariat has repeated its earlier appeal to the Supreme Court as well as the Election Commission to prevent BJP and other Sangh Parivar outfits from humiliating judiciary and misusing religion for electoral gains.
The meeting decided the caption ‘Defeat politics of hate’ as the theme of the Popular Front Day which will be celebrated on 17 February. Various public programmes will be held on the day in different states.
Chairman E Abubacker presided over the meeting which was also attended by M Muhammed Ali Jinnah, OMA Salam, Anis Ahmed, KM Shareef, Abul Wahid Sait and E M Abdul Rahiman.
