Violence in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri is part of larger Sangh-Parivar conspiracies

Parwez Ahmed, State President, Popular Front of India – Delhi, has, in a statement strongly condemned the anti-Muslim violence in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri during the Hanuman Jayanti processions. The violence in Jahangirpuri should be considered as a continuation of the attack on Muslims during Ram Navami rallies in Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Goa and West Bengal. There is a pattern in these incidents of violence and the methodology adopted was the same everywhere, holding rallies in Muslim-dominated areas, using objectionable slogans and songs and inciting people to violence, he noted.

While hundreds of different types of religious events and festivals are regularly held peacefully in the country, these are proof that there are concerted efforts by the Sangh Parivar to make religious events violent, added Mr Parwez Ahmed. The violence is highly regrettable as it has been only two years since the Hindutva orchestrated an anti-Muslim pogrom in North-East Delhi and it brings back distressing memories deaths, injuries and loss of livelihood. RSS and BJP leaders like Kapil Mishra and Ragini Tiwari had played a major role in the North East Delhi pogrom of 2020 and their involvement in the conspiracies behind Jahangirpuri violence is highly suspected.

Parwez Ahmed has also raised questions regarding the totally one-sided and politically motivated actions of the Delhi Police. Videos and pictures from Jahangirpuri clearly show that the Hanuman Jayanti processions had brought swords, spears and pistols with them. But why is it that only Muslims are getting arrested for instigating riots?, asked Mr Parwez Ahmed. The Delhi Police’s actions and probe during and after the North East Delhi pogrom were one of the most prejudiced ever, he reminded.

Parwez Ahmed has also put Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the dock for his puzzling silence when it comes to addressing and acting against the Sangh-Parivar hate crimes and violence targeting Muslims. Whereas he was proactive in filing FIRs against innocent members of Tablighi Jamaat, who were wrongly implicated, noted the Popular Front Delhi State President.

The Popular Front of India appeals that the people should maintain peace and demands an impartial probe into the riots, led by a retired Supreme Court Judge so that the guilty would be punished ideally. The Popular Front has also called for adequate compensation for the people affected by the riots. Popular Front will provide legal aid and relief to innocent people who are victims of the Hindutva assault and are wrongly framed by the Delhi Police.
