Wednesday, September 12th, 2012
Chennai: A.S.Ismail, Tamilnadu State President of Popular Front of India, vehemently condemned the government’s decision to crackdown the democratic Anti nuke protesters brutally.

In a press statement he said, People of Koodangulam had started their protest once again to oppose the filling of Uranium in Koodangulam nuclear plant.

Inmates of Koodangulam village and people around it were continuing their democratic way of protest very peacefully for the past one and a half years.

Government, Instead of examining the reason and the root cause for their protests, had engaged itself in sabotaging all of their efforts, now at last unleashed a full scale violence, a Lathi charge against unarmed anti nuke protesters. In which one fisherman of Tuticorin district was brutally shot dead by the police.

Popular front strongly condemn the killing and excessive violence unleashed against the protesters.

Without respecting their democratic way of protests, without paying due attention to their legitimate demands, without providing any guarantee for their lives, without alleviating the apprehensions of the people, Government’s action against the protesters is condemnable.

President also urged the Koodangulam people and protesters to continuously put forward their demands in a peaceful and democratic way.

He demanded the government to revoke all activities of police department in and around Idinthakarai village and once again reiterated Popular front’s policy and standpoint that “Nuclear power is dangerous and hazardous”.
