Snap ties with Israel

The era of colonialism was one of the worst periods in human history. Colonialism trampled up on the life and limbs of millions of people and destroyed numerous cultures and civilizations. After Second World War the people of Asia, Africa and South America had to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of people to drive out the marauding colonial powers.

And we thought it was the end of despicable chapter in human history. We are wrong. Directly or indirectly the imperial powers still try to control the world through direct invasion or indirect arm-twisting or by establishing terror states.

Israel – the state founded on the dead bodies of thousands of Palestinians is one of the worst spin offs of colonialism.

Inhuman violence to start with

The birth of Israel itself was based on inhuman violence justified by the abhorrent ideology of Zionism. For the cause of forming a Jewish State on other people’s mother land, the Zionists resorted to all forms of atrocities. Mass murder of women and children, rapes, terrorist bombings, assassinations of mediators and forced evacuation were some of the crimes committed by the Zionist terror groups to wipe off the Arab population in Palestine. Israel – which is projected by the US and its imperialist allies as a democracy and warrior in the war against terror – itself was the pioneer of organized terrorism. She has a very blood-curdling history of organized terrorism.

It was the fanatic Zionists who formed the first organised terrorist groups like Irgunand Haganah to carry out attacks on the Arabs and British in Palestine. To drive away the Arabs from their ancestral homeland these terrorist groups bombed various Arab villages and cities. A combined force of Irgun Zvai Leumi and the Stern Gang, supported by the Jewish Palmach forces, captured various Arab villages and killed hundreds of unarmed civilians, including women and children. The Deir Yassin massacre took place on April 9,1948, when around 120 Zionist militants attacked Deir Yassin near Jerusalem, a Palestinian-Arab village of roughly 600 people. Around 107 unarmed villagers were killed in cold blood during the attack, including women and children-some were shot, while others died when hand grenades were thrown into their homes.

During 1947 to 1948 over 700,000 Palestinian Arabs were uprooted from their homes and land, and forced to live in refugee camps on Israel’s borders. They have been denied the right to return to their homes. After the formation of Israel these terrorist organizations were incorporated into the Israeli military.

Fountainhead of terror

During the 6 decades of Israel’s existence she has proved to be fountainhead of violence in the Middle East drawing the Arabs in to a cycle of mindless terror always started by the Zionist entity. Israel has constantly violated all the International human rights charters and attracted regular international condemnation. Israeli terrorism against Palestinians continues, including murder, torture, expropriation of their land for the creation of illegal settlements and demolition of thousands of their homes as well as entire towns and villages. Not to mention numerous massacres, including those of Deir Yassin, Qibya, Sabra and Shatilla, Jenin and Gaza.

Gaza and West Bank occupied by Israel in 1967 has been converted into the worst open air jail in the world. Israel has built over 200 settlements in the territories. Over 400,000 fanatic Jews coming from Europe and US have moved onto Palestinian land. Settlements were expanded, more settlers arrived, more homes were destroyed, more land was confiscated, and more roads were built exclusively for the use of the occupiers. Israeli separation wall with watch towers, electrified fences and checkpoints runs through the heart of Palestine symbolizing apartheid; the wall prevent Palestinians from traveling to work, school, hospitals and places of worship. Many people died on the way to hospitals at checkpoints.

In the 2008-2009 attack on Gaza, the Zionist entity crossed all limits by firing phosphorous and napalm bombs on innocent civilians. Israeli soldiers used Gazans as human shields, fired incendiary white phosphorus shells over civilian areas and used overwhelming firepower that caused needless deaths and destruction. More than 50,800 Gazans were left homeless and 80% of the population could not support themselves and were dependent on humanitarian assistance.

Israel is one of the very few countries in the world which has continuously carried out covert operations in foreign soil. The late Prof. Israel Shahak, a Holocaust survivor, and then Chairman of the Israeli League for Human and Civil Rights, wrote:

“There is nothing new in the fact that Israel is a terrorist state, which, almost from its inception, has used its intelligence service (the Mossad) to assassinate people on foreign soil with any violence or terror it considers necessary for its ends.” Assassination of Palestinian leaders and intellectuals, in Europe and the Middle East has gone on for years. Israeli terror was not restricted to Palestinians, Arabs and Europeans but included its own closest supporter and ally, the United States. In 1954, Israeli secret agents bombed the U.S. diplomatic centres in Cairo and Alexandria (known as the Lavon Affair), in an attempt to put the blame on the Egyptians. The Israeli agents have been behind the assassination of more than a dozen Iranian and Egyptian nuclear scientists.

India’s support for Palestine

With about 8 million people the Israel state has survived through sheer military might and with the help of the U. S. and her allies. The world has resoundingly condemned the atrocities committed by Israel. In 1948 Palestine was partitioned against the wishes of the people of the land with one vote majority in UN General Assembly. The founding fathers of India had a very clear stand on the Palestinian issue and on our relations with Israel.Mahatma Gandhi once famously said “Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English or France to the French”. This statement influenced the leaders of newly independent India in formulating our foreign policy. India was the first non-Arab country to recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization as “the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.” Until the 1980s, as the leader of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), India joined hands with the Arab countries at the UN and within the Non-aligned Movement, to support the Palestinian people’s right to a sovereign state.

In early nineties this just policy was changed drastically after the opening of doors neo-liberal economic policies. The Congress government led by P. V. Narasimha Rao betrayed the values of the founding fathers by establishing formal diplomatic relations with Israel in 1991. Since then the country has become the largest customer of Israeli military equipments that are nothing but modifies versions of US products. India is Israel’s largest defence market, accounting for almost 50 percent of Israeli arms sales. And we are paying a very huge price hidden from the public view.

Threat to nation’s security

The increasing ties with Israel had very grave impact on the country’s security.Israeli “security experts” are active in the country fomenting troubles, helping Hindutva terror groups infiltrating high security areas and planting agents in the media and high bureaucracy. It has also dented our international prestige and turned us in to a client state of the U. S. in South East Asia. The supporters of Palestinian rights and opponents of Zionism are now labelled terrorist by the some sections of “national press”. To secure defence deals with Israel the historic, cultural, social and economic ties with Arab countries are given the go by. More recently after the Israel Embassy car blast case we could see how Israel was dictating terms to the world’s largest democracy. The recent arrest on a senior journalist on the instructions of Israeli agencies has created a sense of insecurity among the anti-Zionist voices in India. The Indian government which had gone on record denying any involvement of Iran in the case later changed its stand. The media reports of India allowing Israeli agencies to interrogate the person arrested in the case was indeed a shocker.

Blasts after blasts

More serious is the threat to internal security of the country. The audio tapes seized from the laptop of Dayanand Pandey, an accused in various bomb blast cases carried out by

Hindutva groups reveal that Col. Srikant Purohit the king pin of the terror group had sought the support of Israel. These facts ignored by various investigation agencies lead us to the nether world of Zionist-Hindutwa terror. There is no mystery now that the establishment of diplomatic ties with Israel also witnessed increasing terrorist attacks in the country mostly engineered by Hindutva outfits. There are also alarming reports of growing network of various Israeli drug and land mafias in India.

It is time that the Government of India realised that the country is in the clutches of a terrorist state called Israel which has no legitimacy in the eyes of the world. A country like India founded on the values of equality, justice and freedom can never be an ally of a country with blood in her hands -blood of innocent Palestinians. India should once again go back to its policy of non-alignment and to its roots.
