Fasal murder case: Popular Front warns against CPM attempt to pressurise CBI

Sunday, April 8th, 2012
Kannur: Popular Front of India accused the CPM leaders of pressurising and intimidating CBI in Fasal murder case to protect party leaders who were in agency radar. V K Noufal, Kannur district president of Popular Front said that CPM leaders were leveling baseless allegations against the CBI which is moving towards right direction in the case. They are trying to intimidate the agency through these kinds of tactics.
It was CPM Polit Bureau leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan who tried to misguide the people and police soon after the incident took place. During then he was state home minister. He visited the hospital where Fasal’s body was kept soon after the murder and said that it was RSS behind the killing. This was the first attempt to scuttle the case, he said.
The statement by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan implied that he had some vested interests in the case. If this angle is probed thoroughly, his role can be brought to light. That is why they are trying to torpedo the CBI investigation, he said.
He also remembered that CPM government had moved Supreme Court against High Court order to transfer the case to the CBI. If they had no interests in the case or no role in the killing why did they go to the Supreme Court on the issue, he asked.
Popular Front also cautioned the CBI not to succumb to the pressure tactics of the CPM and to bring out the high level conspiracy in the case at any cost.
CPM has decided to hold a protest march to CBI headquarters at Kochi on 16th of this month.
