Popular Front of India Chairman E. M. Abdul Rahman declared the adoption of ten villages in Murshidabad District as Sarva Siksha Grams. He also inaugurated the distribution of 10,000 school kits to the needy students and distributed second phase of scholarship scheme for under graduate deserving students on 1st January 2012 at Doulatabad in Murshidabad district of West Bengal.

A three week ‘School Chalo’ campaign (Go to School) started on 20th December is already in progress in which door to door campaign, education survey, enrolment of children in primary school, awareness and motivation classes to parents, re-entry of drop outs and students’ awareness rallies are going on. This will continue till 10th January 2012. The campaign aims to ensure all children of age 6 to 15 are getting proper school education.

The project includes adoption of ten villages as Sarva Siksha Grams, the aim of which is to make them model villages in education, health care and economic self sufficiency. The organization is trying to provide sufficient infrastructure for tuition centres, free clinics and self employment schemes in cooperation with other likeminded NGOs working in the District. Regular medical checkup for the students, educational and psychological counselling, regular awareness classes to parents on parenting, cleanliness, health and hygiene, etc. are some of the programs included in the scheme.
Other guests who attended the function include E. Abubacker, President of Social Democratic Party of India, O.M.A.Salam, NEC member of Popular Front in charge of Community Development and Mohammed Shahabudheen, State President.
