Thiruvananthapuram: Popular Front campaign with the slogan ‘Freedom is Birthright’ has gained momentum in Kerala with various programmes being organised throughout the state. Vehicle campaigns, street programmes, public conferences, pamphlet distributions and house campaign have been conducted during last few weeks in the state as part of the state level campaign.
Hundreds of people participated in each programmes in various corners of the state.
Almost all districts conducted various campaign programmes including grand district level public meetings. State leaders of the organisation participated in these programmes.
The campaign from September 15 to October 15 was planned in the backdrop of anti democratic attitude from the part of state government and its various arms towards Popular Front and its activities. The state police had denied the organisation permission to conduct Freedom Parade which was used to be held on Aug. 15 every year by the organisation in various cities and towns of Kerala. District authorities had denied permission for the parade citing childish and irrational reasons.
The campaign programmes were aimed at making the people of the state aware of vilification campaign against Popular Front and the undemocratic measures the state machinery resorts to in order to suppress the organisation.
To mark the end of the campaign on 15th of this month three regional conferences will be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Punaloor and Kozhikkode. Thousands of people are expected to participate in all three grand public meetings.
Popular Front activists of the state are keen to make these conferences a grand success.
