Thursday, August 11th, 2011
Kochi: Kerala High Court sought the response from Kerala government in a petition filed by Popular Front of India against decision by four district collectors to put a ban on Freedom Parade to be held at four towns of Kerala as part of Independence Day celebrations. Petitions which had been filed yesterday through senior advocate K Ram Kumar will be heard on Friday.
District collectors had banned Freedom Parade slated to be conducted at Punaloor, Thamarassery, Manjeri and Chavakkadu during last days. Popular Front had critisised the move by the government as pure discrimination and attack on the rights of the people to celebrate Independence of the country. The petitions filed by Popular Front state general secretary P Abdul Hameed will be heard by justice Antony Dominic on Friday. Petition had also alleged that it was nothing but illogical and unlawful to single out Popular Front and ban its programmes where as all other parties were all out free to organise their programmes.
