On the eve of ongoing Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants Popular Front of India Chairman EM Abdul Rahman sent letter to various Apex bodies of the country including President of India, Prime Minister, UPA Chairperson and Mr.Jairam Ramesh (Cabinet Minister for Environment and Forest).
Endosulfan has been banned across 74 countries in the globe after elaborate studies. The highly controversial agrichemical Endosulfan and its ramification identified two states in Kerala and Karnataka later this states banned this pesticide due to the findings of severe health and environmental damages.
We urge the government of India to take the lead for a global ban of the pesticide Endosulfan in the ongoing Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and also to impose complete ban of Endosulfan throughout India.
