Attack on Yechuri a wake-up call: Popular Front

New Delhi: In a statement Popular Front of India Chairman E. Abubacker has strongly condemned the attack on Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechuri. E Abubacker has said that the attack should serve as a wake-up call to all political parties in the opposition to ponder more effective steps to counter the fascist menace plaguing the nation. He has said that the attack on a prominent leader like Yechuri at his party headquarters at national capital is a testimony that no Indian, however powerful he/she may be, is safe from the vicious hands of Sangh Pariwar.
Such attacks happen because our political parties and leaders failed to accept the gravity of the situation. They have been largely oblivious to the extreme insecurity and agony that the minorities and Dalits have been going through in the past three years of NDA rule. Numerous instances of brutal lynching and the menace of cow-protection gangs and Anti-Romeo squads across the country were often treated and talked of as isolated crimes of exception, not as part of organized attempts to eliminate what they perceive as enemies. It is high time that all parties and leaders opposing fascism realized the severity of the situation and take united and more effective steps to save the nation from the fascist danger.
