Chennai: NCHRO demands the release of convicts who have spent ten years

National Confederation of Human Rights Organizations (NCHRO) has demanded the release of convicts who have spent ten years behind the bars. A protest demonstration was held at Chennai on September 13 to press the demand. The Tamil Nadu State Government normally releases prisoners every year on September 15 on account of the birthday of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai. But in the past few years, the Muslim prisoners’ names did not find a place in the list of released convicts. 

Khaled Mohamed, State General Secretary of Popular Front of India participated in the protest and demanded that the Muslim prisoners should not be discriminated just on the basis of religion. Advocate Bhavani Mohan, State President of NCHRO presided over the demonstration. Advocate Shahjahan welcomed the gathering.

SDPI State President KKSM Dehlan Baqavi, Viduthalai Chirutaigal State President Thol Thirumavalavan, NCHRO State Vice President Prof. Marx, Convenor of Confederation of Muslim Organizations and Political parties Haneefa, social activist Thiyagu, President of Tamil National People’s Party Advocate Pughazendhi, INTJ Vice President Mohamed Muneer participated in the protest demonstration and voiced for the release of the convicts on humanitarian grounds.

Advocate Raja Mohamed, State Secretary of NCHRO delivered the vote of thanks. Hundreds of people participated in this program.
