Chennai: Eid Get Together is organized by Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) to inculcate brotherhood and mutual understanding among communities. The program is conducted every year by the state unit of SDPI. A similar gathering was arranged on August 2, 2014 at Royapuram, Chennai.
State President of SDPI K.K.S.M. Dehlan Baqavi presided over the function. State Secretary Rathinam welcomed the gathering and the inaugural speech was given by State General Secretary Mohamed Mubarak. State General Secretaries Abdul Hameed, Nijam Mohideen, Secretary Ameer Hamza, Treasurer Amjath Basha, Media Incharge Usman Khan and other state functionaries were also present.
Thol Thirumavalavan (former MP and president of Viduthalai Chirutaigal party), Vel Murugan (Tamilaga Vazvurimai party), Dr. Sethuraman (Moovendar Munnetra Kazhagam), Esra Sargunam (Samooha Needhi Iyakam), Sp.Udayakumar (People’s Movement against Nuclear Energy), Thiyagu (Tamil Desiya Viduthalai Iyakkam), A. Marx (Human Rights activist), T.S.S. Mani (Journalist), Thiru Murugan (May 17 Movement), A.S. Ismail (State President, Popular Front of India), S.N.Sikkander (Welfare Party), Muneer (India Tawheed Jamath), Nijamudeen (Indian National League), Sahul Hameed (Noble Group of companies) and Nawaz Gani (ST Courier) participated in the get together.
State President Dehlan Baqavi said that the get together is being organized to create mutual understanding among ourselves in the social and political field. State Secretary Abdul Sattar delivered the vote of thanks. Around 1000 people including representatives of different communities and journalists participated in this get together.
