“Save The Republic” the 7-month-long national campaign of the Popular Front of India was launched on 26th January, 72nd Republic Day at Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu.

The campaign was declared by the national committee of the Popular Front in January. The organization intends to highlight authoritarian and anti-constitutional tendencies that challenge the very secular democratic foundations of the country. Starting on January 26, the campaign will conclude on August 15, the 75th anniversary of Independence.

The campaign was launched when Anis Ahmed, General Secretary of the Popular Front, hoisted the national flag at the inaugural event organized at Nagercoil, Kanyakumari district. Mohamed Shaik Ansari, State President of the Popular Front of India, inaugurated the exhibition at the Marudhanayakam Stadium. Marudhanayakam was a pioneer in the Indian freedom struggle. Anis Ahmed, General Secretary of the organization and Mohammed Ali Jinnah, member of the National Executive Council (NEC) addressed the press conference that was called as part of the launch programme.

The inaugural event was followed by the Arts and Culture Show of the Seeds Art Group, which drew the attention of students, art groups and the public alike. The public program that followed was inaugurated by Mohamed Shaik Ansari, Besides Popular Front General Secretary Anis Ahmed, Nasarudheen Elamaram, National Secretary of Popular Front, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Ayya Bala Prajapathi Adigalar, Ayyavazhi spiritual leader, Father Churchill, President of the South Asian Fishermen Fraternity, Shoukat Ali Usmani, Member of the State Executive Committee of the All India Imams Council, Asia Mariam, State President, National Women’s Front and Rafeek Ahmed, State Vice President, Social Democratic Party (SDPI) of India also addressed the gathering. Thousands of people including women came to view the programme.
