Tamilnadu Jail Bharo Protest demonstration: Arrested 20000 cadres were released later

Chennai: “Jail Bharo” Protest demonstration held at Chennai and Madurai today on October 6, 2013, to stop the ongoing Human rights violations in Tamilnadu. Leaders from various political parties and social organisations participated in the protest demonstration, which held near Chennai Collector’s Office and the leaders extended their solidarity with the Muslims.

Around twenty thousand people registered their protest against the continuing human rights violations in Tamil nadu. All were released later. The protest was organized by Popular Front of India in Chennai and Madurai.

In Chennai, protest demonstration was led by the State President of Popular Front of India, A.S. Ismail and Mohamed Rasin, State Secretary, welcomed the gathering. Ahmed Fakrudeen, State Executive council member delivered the inaugural address.

Thol. Thirumavalavan, Member of Parliament from Viduthalai Chiruthai Katchi, KKSM Dhehlan Baqavi, State President of Social Democratic Party of India(SDPI), SM Bakker, Indian Thouheed Jamath(INTJ), TSS Mani, Political Commentator, Mohamed Haniffa, Convener, Tamilnadu Islamic Organisation and Political Parties Federation, M.Veerapandian,State Executive committee member, Communist Party of India, AS Umar Farook, Founder President of Marumalarchi Muslim League were present and delivered their support.

Similarly in Madurai State Vice President of Popular Front of India, Mohamed Sheik Ansari, presided over the demonstration. S.M Rafiq Ahmed, State Vice President of SDPI, KM Sherif People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Abirudeen Manbayi, State President of All India Imams Council(AIIC), Reziya Begum, State General Secretary of National Womens Front (NWF), Kani Amuthan, State General Secretary of Viduthalai Chiruthai Katchi(VCK) were present and condemned the ongoing atrocities and harassments against minorities in their speech.

Resolutions:

Seven Resolutions were unanimously adopted during the protest demonstration. They are

Popular front of India vehemently condemns the ongoing harassments, illegal detention and other human rights violation and urges the Chief Minister to intervene into the matter seriously to stop the Human rights violations done by the Law enforcement Agencies themselves.
Popular front also requests the govt to Release the innocent Muslims, implicated in false and fabricated cases and to provide adequate compensation to the victims.
Popular front of India requests the Police department and Intelligence officials to investigate the crime in a just and fair manner without any prejudice from all possible angles, and not to succumb to the pressures of perverted minds merely suspecting Muslims always.
In another resolution it said,Govt must ensure that the draconian UAPA act, not be misused here in Tamilnadu.
Popular front also urges, the tendency of banning Democratic Protests should change and
Take appropriate actions against the erring Police and Intelligence official who were trying to bring the culture of “North Indian style” stage managed “Politics of Terrorism Drama” in Tamilnadu.
In order to take actions against the erring police and intelligence officials Supreme court had directed every state to constitute a commission to check the unlawful,illegal and extra judicial activities of the police and intelligence officials. Tamilnadu governement should implement these Injunctions of the Supreme Court immediately.
Protestors raised slogans and hold placard in their hands. Placard Text urges the government to appoint upright officers to investigate terror cases. In some placard it was written that Who conspired and planted Bombs in Samjautha Express…Tenkasi etc ? It is the fascists and in another placard, “Bangalore (Malleswaram) Blast : SIM card (un tampered Call Data Record CDR) links to RSS” it says, is a “Buried Fact”
