Tamil Nadu comes out against ban on Popular Front in Jharkhand

Massive protest gathering held at Valluvar Kottam in Chennai on 16 March 2018 questioned the decision of Jharkhand government which banned Popular Front of India. The programme witnessed an outpour of political leaders, community leaders and activists across the state as well as a large numbers of people.
Larders and speakers who addressed the gathering condemned the ban and demanded BJP government of Jharkhand to immediately withdraw the undemocratic decision. BJP government is using an archaic law from British era against a democratic mass movement that is functioning in 17 Indian states. Popular Front is an organization that focuses on the protection of civil Rights and activities for empowering the poor and the marginalized since over a decade. The move against Popular Front is part of authoritarian and undemocratic measures being adopted by Modi government against the voices of dissent ever since they came to power. Popular Front is not their first target nor will it be the last. The forces of intolerance will come after each one of us until we all submit to them.

A united strategy was formulated in the meeting in order to fight the political vendetta unleashed by fascist forces against democratic movements. It was decided to conduct a protests jointly at Reporters Guild, Chennai on March 02, 2018. Following the decisions taken on the joint meeting Organizational parties including the following had participated and registered their strong condemnation.
