We have Miles to go: E. Abubacker

The Delhi State Committee of Popular Front of India organised a reception programme to the newly elected national leaders E. Abubacker, Chairman and M. Mohamed Ali Jinnah, General Secretary, at its headquarters in New Delhi.
The programme started with Quran recitation by Naseebullah Umari. Shafeequr Rahman welcomed the gathering. Delhi State President, Parwez Ahmed gave introductory remarks, followed by felicitations of prominent leaders including Dr. Mohd. Manzoor Alam (Chairman, Institute of Objective Studies), Dr. Tasleem Rahmani (President, Muslim Political Council of India), Prof. Hasina Hashiya (Jamia Millia University), Raghavan Srinivasan (President, Lokraj Sangathan) and Javed Jamil (Writer). They expressed their wholehearted congratulations to the new leaders.
E. Abubacker, the Chairman, said “We are passing through a crucial juncture in the history of our nation. Not only Muslims, India as a nation is going through its most disastrous times. The largest fascist organization in the world is ruling the country as they alone like. Muslims are in a state of terror. Over past decades, Popular Front has reached even remote corners of India. We travelled through the villages of the country and learned anxieties and problems of the people. It was not an act of organizing by sitting in the comforts of some blissful centres. Rather it was a troublesome journey, moving through the heartlands of India and communicating with its people. Now our headquarters is at the national capital. But we know that our work is out of this building. So far we could build our structure only in 15 states, though we are present in a few more states. This is where the journey has reached. We have miles to go”.
In his reply to the felicitation, M. Mohamed Ali Jinnah said “In Islam, the leadership is not a post, but it is a responsibility. As the General Secretary of Popular Front, I am answerable to each and every member of the organisation. As I am a Muslim, I am answerable to the Indian Muslim community. As I am a public leader, I am answerable to the people of India. As I am a human being, I am answerable to the Almighty, Allah. I request to correct us, when you find any mistake. To fulfill our responsibility, I request you all to pray and give support for the best result. This is time to get united against the real enemy of Indian nation that is the fascist force.
NEC members E.M Abdul Rahiman, Prof. P. Koya, Adv. Mohamed Yousuf, A.S. Ismail, Abdussamad. M, Moideen Kutty Faizi and Gulpham Husain, Delhi State Secretary attended the function.
Director of Media and Public relations Mohammed Arif Ahmed proposed a vote of thanks. The programme concluded highlighting the need of activism in India, especially to safeguard the constitutional rights promised to all citizens by our constitution.
