A resolution passed by the National Leaders’ Meet of Popular Front of India held at Puthanathani in Malappuram has called on the people of the country to come out against the new trend of bulldozer politics. Uttar Pradesh Government initiated the use of extrajudicial methods in the state to target people whom the government accuses of being criminals. This trend of mere accusations becoming convictions and police acting as judge, jury and executioner is unheard of in the civilised world. Police were given free rein by the government to shoot people and destroy their houses. There is little criticism while human rights and due process of law are being trampled upon. Now the fascist government of UP is using the same methods to brutally suppress and demonise democratic protests by members of the Muslim community. Innocent Muslims are being booked under draconian charges and their houses are being destroyed. Unfortunately, even Supreme Court failed to see the bare injustice being committed by the Yogi government and refused to put the action on hold. In situations such as these, silence is complicity. Popular Front National Leaders’ Meet calls upon all sections of the society to break their silence and unequivocally condemn bulldozer politics and extrajudicial actions of the UP government.
In another resolution, National Leaders’ Meet called for an immediate end to the targeting of Muslim places of worship by the Sangh Parivar. After Babri Masjid, Sangh outfits have intensified their campaign against other historic mosques like Gyanvapi Masjid and Mathura Shahi Idgah, in their attempt to keep the communal pot boiling. Simultaneously, they continue to push their anti-Muslim narrative more strongly than ever before, leading the country into an irreversible communal divide at micro and macro levels and potentially creating an atmosphere of anti-Muslim genocide. Popular Front cautions that hate politics may yield temporary political gains, but ultimately it will only bring destruction to all. Popular Front demands that the administration refrain from entertaining any attempts by the Sangh Parivar to target Muslim places of worship in the country.
In another resolution, Popular Front National Leaders’ Meet stated that there are sinister motives behind the newly announced Agnipath army recruitment scheme. Such a project will adversely affect the professionalism and morale of the army and undermine our national security. There is also a valid suspicion that this is a Sangh Parivar project to give arms training to its semi-militant wings. Contradictory statements were given by BJP leaders validating such suspicions. People of the country should unitedly stand and defeat the scheme.
The meeting that was held at Malabar House, Puthanathani on the 17th and 18th of June was attended by leaders of the organization from all across the country.
