Eid Get-together programmes are arranged all over the nation, with the aim of creating communal harmony. The get-together also serves as a platform for different communities to share their views on different issues that confront the nation.
The Tamilnadu state unit is also organizing such gatherings in different parts of the state. A Eid get-together of social activists, journalists, lawyers and leaders of different political parties and movements was organized on September 7 at Tirunelveli. Popular Front of India’s District President Ahamed Navavi presided over the gathering. District Secretary Syed Abdul Kareem welcomed the gathering. Usman Khan (District President of SDPI), Riaz Ahamed (Sub-editor of Vidiyal Velli monthly) and Fathima Aalima (National Vice President of NWF) were also president.
A.S. Ismail, State President of Popular Front of India delivered the keynote address on the topic ‘Let’s move forward’. He pointed out that the 100 days of Modi’s rule clearly shows that the Government is moving ahead with its Hindutuva agenda. The secularism of the nation is on trial and communal violence is used by the Hindutuva brigade to gather political gains, he added. He stressed the need for the people of different communities to join hands for the welfare of the nation.
