Arrest of Chidambaram politically motivated: Popular Front

Popular Front of India Chairman E Abubacker has called the ongoing CBI and Enforcement Directorate actions against former home minister and top Congress leader P. Chidambaram politically motivated and abuse of power. He pointed out that BJP is misusing central investigation agencies in its attempt to break the backbone of the opposition by targeting top leaders.
The Congress and other opposition party leaders have lessons to learn from this emerging trend in the country. UPA government during its reign had resorted to soft Hindutva thinking it would politically benefit them. It even allowed criminals involved in serious crimes including genocide and fake encounter to slip through their fingers. It is to be remembered that it was Congress which had done everything that had paved for abuse of power by passing draconian legislations and empowering deep state. Mr. Chidambaram himself led the process as home minister. NIA and UAPA amendment were enacted during his home minister term. The witch-hunt of Congress leaders must open their eyes. Civil Rights organization had warned of this situation from the very beginning.
E Abubacker called on the opposition parties to work for strengthening democratic ideals, and expose the communal and authoritarian agenda of BJP.
