Popular Front urges the State govt to offer compensation to the victims of Sankarankovil Fascist engineered riot

Sankarankovil: Popular front of india strongly condemns the Sankarankovil engineered riots and urges "Stern action should be taken against the rioters" and requests the community leaders of both Muslims and Dalits community to come forward to Preserve Muslim Dalit Unity.

In a religious festival of dalits,  fascists elements intruded into the procession and created trouble among Dalits and Muslim community which costs huge financial loss. In Sankarankovil, Nellai West district (TN) Muslims and Dalits were living peacefully in large number near Kalugumalai road. Recently there were several attempts systematically being done and problems were created by few antisocial elements to create hatred between the communities who were living with fraternal bond and communal harmony.
As a part of their conspiracy yesterday February 7,2012, some miscreants possibly intruded into the religious procession of Dalits which was passing near by a mosque at Kalugumalai road, hurled footwear into the mosque, bursted firecrackers next to it and ignited the problem. Muslims standing next to the mosque observed it and formally informed the police to avert further tension or any untoward incidents and sought for adequate police protection. But without realising the intensity of the problem very few policemen were deployed. Later while the procession was returning problem erupted again. Both the communities clashed with each other. Insufficient police force were unable to control the warlike situation.
Confrontation then turned more violent and transformed into a large scale riots, arson and looting continues. vehicles were smashed into pieces and torched.
Violence lasted for few hours and it was controlled only by a police force headed by the Superintendent of Police after using tear gas.
Commercial complexes,Shops,residences and vehicles either looted or set ablaze were owned only by Muslims. Thus it is evident that it was not happened spontaneously but it was systematic riot engineered against Muslims by a fascist gang. It is noteworthy here to mention that, in the same Nellai west district fascist elements used disguise like fake beard and skull caps, masqueraded like Muslims, while they were to handle bombs thus tried to entrap Muslims, which was exposed later.
So a strong suspicion arises that the violence might be a part of their conspiracy to create bitterness, hatred and permanent enmity between the two communities that peacefully coexists here for several decades with cordial,fraternal and friendly relationships.
Hence A.S.Ismail Tamilnadu State President of Popular front of India, urges the Chief minister of Tamilnadu to take stern action against the rioters and their masterminds.
Further, Dalits especially youths are requested not to fall as a prey into the designs of fascists, Community leaders are requested to take necessary steps and utmost care to be taken to strengthen a cordial bilateral relationship between both the communities. He requested the state government to offer adequate compensations for the victims of this riot.
