Saturday, February 18th, 2012
Thiruvananthapuram: Social Democratic Party of India alleged that the police was responsible for violence following black march to CM's office on Thursday. Protest march was organised demanding repeal of sedition charges slapped upon SDPI activists for waving black flags against Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as part of agitation following the e mail hacking raw.
The violence had erupted when police tried to manhandle an old person who was taking rest under a tree from sun light. Police misbehaved with the activists without considering their feelings who were angered by the unjust action of police who charged their workers of sedition just for waving black flag against CM. The police didn't gave the leaders present there an opportunity to pacify the workers who were enraged due to the reckless actions by them. The police were attacking state leaders like Samkutty Jacob and arresting them.
SDPI leaders also made it clear that it was not their activists who had destroyed the car and pelted stone against a woman injuring her. Instead car was damaged in police shelling and as reported in the media.
SDPI leaders also said that party would take legal steps against police action who slapped unbailable charges against its leaders following the incident.
They also doubted that some elements in state police with ulterior motives was working to harass the party and its activists and to malign its image.
State general secretary M K Manoj Kumar, Thiruvananthapuram district president Kunnil Shajahan and secretary Kattakada Rajan participated in the news conference.
