Monday, February 20th, 2012

Bangalore: Social Democratic Party of India, Bangalore District conducted a Get together at Adam’s Golden Heritage, Benson town, Bangalore on 18th Feb 2012 to educate the current political scenario in India & the anti peoples policies of the governments & the corruption since independence. The program venue was packed with over 500 people.  The program started at 6:30 PM and went on till past 9:00 PM.

The gathering was welcomed by Bangalore District General Secretary Mr. Waseem Ahmed.

Intellectuals including Mr. Abdul Wahed Sait, Mr. Saquib, Mrs. Hemalatha &  Dr. Mahboob Shariff Awad addressed the gathering.

The speakers enlightened the crowd with their thoughts encouraging national integration & encouraged the audience to strengthen the hands of SDPI for a clean governance where SDPI would first & foremost try to iron out the differences between people of the various religions, castes & creeds.

Mr. Abdul Wahed Sait delivered a strong message of national integration & encouraged the intellectuals to get more involved & social service & community service.  He also encouraged the gathered intellectuals to join hands with SDPI and work towards a strong nation.

Mr. Saquib said that SDPI is a Secular political party, it is not communal, will never be communal. He also mentioned the reservation issue which is being used to fool the innocent Muslim people in the current UP elections. He mentioned that none of the political parties have the political will to uplift the downtrodden. He highlighted the atrocities committed against the Dalits, Christians, Muslims, children & women. He mentioned that SDPI promises that all citizens in India will live a life of peaceful coexistence with people belonging to other religions. He mentioned that the perpetrators of crime will be dealt with very strongly.

Mrs. Hemalatha, speaking in a mix of Kannada, English & Hindi said that SDPI is not only for Muslims but is for all the citizens of this country & every citizen has to understand their rights. She mentioned that it was not only Muslims who are targets of atrocities. There have been atrocities against Hindus too. Even poor Brahmins are also targeted.  She mentioned that she faced a lot of problems in her life. “I did not come to this party with a suitcase” which is the culture of most of the parties. She mentioned that women were a target of more atrocities as compared to men & hence encouraged women to come forward & join SDPI in large numbers & strengthen the hands of the common man.  SDPI welcomes  all secular minded people immaterial of caste & creed.

Mr. Mahmood Shareef Awad, the national secretary of SDPI addressed the gathering. He mentioned that even though SDPI is a party which is just over two & half years old, the acceptance has been tremendous & SDPI is working in all corners of the country from the bottom most tip at kanyakumari to the farthest peak of Manipur. We participated in the Tamilnadu localbody elections. The results were shocking, in the state where the percentage of Muslims is about 5.5%. We contested in 300 seats of which we won in 66 seats. He mentioned that the masses have understood our objectives & also understaood the reality. We have spread our reach from the borders of Pakistan to the borders of Bangladesh.  He briefed the gathering of the victories of SDPI staring with the two victories at Savai madhopur in Rajasthan where SDPI won the Sarpanch & upa Sarpanch seats. Then the BBMP ward at Padarayanapura & the 68 taluk panchayath seats in Karnataka & the 14 corporation wards in Kerala. Hr educated the gathering that whenever you buy anything, a small component of the price is contributed as tax which has to be used for the development of the nation. The money has to be used to ease the situation of the common man by providing subsidies to the common man. Instead the government is planning to withdraw the subsidies extended to the common man for the gas supply & extending subsidies to the corporate.  This talks poorly of the economic policy of our nation. We see the sky rocketing inflation. There should not be discrimination based on religion. He pointed out the atrocities against Muslims due to their religion. He also mentioned about the attacks on the Christian properties like the churches & statues. The culprits were given a clean chit.

All the speakers encouraged people to come to the Peoples political conference at Chota Maidan, Shivajinagar on 26th February at 6:30 PM.

Bangalore District President, Mr. Irfan Ibrahim presented the vote of thanks.
