All India Imams Council assures support to Irom Sharmila

Imphal: All India Imams council National President Moulana Usman baig met Irom Sharmila and her supporters at the protest site in Imphal on Friday January 27,2012. Irom Sharmila also known as"Iron lady" has been on hunger strike for the past 12 years demanding the government to repeal Armed Forces (special powers) Act 1958, which according to her is a cause for violence in Manipur and other North-eastern states. Moulana baig in a statement said, "The state govt do not like to take any action plan to repeal the draconian law AFSPA from the state of Manipur, instead they spreading mere promises to keep the people mum".

Government of Manipur should take it as a serious concern and any such black laws should be condemned and must be repealed Immediately. Imams council will takes this matter very seriously will continue its protest demonstration to every nook and corner of the country until these kind of Black Laws repealed" ,Baig said
