Popular Front of India North Zone will organize a Grand Public Meeting on 5th November in Delhi highlighting the theme “We also have something to say”. This conference is being organized in the context of the moves to interrupt the activities of the organization by anti-people and anti-minority right-wing forces by misusing power.

As per recent reports appeared in a section of the media, some accusations were leveled against the organization by quoting an alleged National Investigation Agency report. One of them is the local attack happened seven years back in Kerala on a college professor who insulted Prophet Muhammed in a highly obscene language. Popular Front had made it clear in a press meet at that time itself that the organization was not involved in the incident. In another incident, our members who were attending a health awareness programme as part of the ‘Healthy People, Healthy Nation’ campaign, which is an annually held campaign of the organization were falsely implicated under sections of UAPA. The Kerala High Court had revoked the use of UAPA in the case and Supreme Court did not even accept the NIA appeal against the High Court decision.
Another accusation is that the organization is recruiting its members to Islamic State which is working in Syria and Iraq. According to media reports, only about 60 people from the 18 crores strong Indian Muslims are believed to have departed for Syria or Afghanistan. But it is being misused to demonise Indian Muslims. The truth is that Popular Front had warned its members and public early enough about mysterious groups like Islamic State and their traps on social media to lure young people into their fold. Popular Front is always against any kind of terrorism. Also, the attempts to link the organization, with ‘Love Jihad’, a racist propaganda created by Hindutwa communal forces, too have utterly no any basis. At the same time, it is to be noted that their ulterior motive is to deny the right to profess and propagate any religion, a fundamental right guaranteed by the Indian constitution.
Popular Front is an organization with many thousands of members and many lakhs of supporters and has a presence in various parts of the country. Its varied programmes aiming at promoting literacy and alleviating poverty have gained wide appreciations. The stand held by Popular Front that the biggest challenge faced by our country is communal fascism remains crystal clear to this day. And it is because of this very reason that the organization is being targeted. We have been resisting attempts against the organization through democratic and lawful means.
In this context, the North Zone Council of Popular Front has decided to launch a campaign to impart the message of the organization to people through various programmes such as corner meetings, street plays, posters and pamphlets in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The campaign will be concluded with a Grand Public Meeting to be held on 5th of November in New Delhi.
North Zone President A. S. Ismail presided over the council meeting. National General Secretary Mohammed Ali Jinnah also participated in the meeting.
